Wizard's First Rule is the debut novel in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth epic fantasy series. The story follows Richard Cypher, an ordinary forest guide from Westland who discovers an extraordinary destiny when he becomes a Seeker of Truth. His role is to prevent the tyrannical wizard Darken Rahl from obtaining the all-powerful Boxes of Orden. When the mysterious and beautiful Kahlan Amnell arrives in Richard's forest seeking assistance, his life changes dramatically. After demonstrating his ability to wield the Sword of Truth, Richard realizes he must confront Darken Rahl. Kahlan urges him to look beyond his sword and draw upon his inner nobility to overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
