The President's Henchman (Jim McGill series Book 1)

Jim McGill, a former Chicago police officer, becomes the first private investigator to reside in the White House after marrying Patricia Darden Grant, the first woman elected U.S. President. He had solved the murder of her first husband shortly before their marriage. After moving to Washington, McGill obtains a private investigator's license rather than accept the title of First Gentleman, instead calling himself The President's Henchman. His first case involves identifying who is stalking a woman in the White House press corps. His wife then asks him to serve as a shadow advisor to a young Air Force investigator examining an adultery allegation against a female colonel at the Pentagon. Both cases carry significant political risk.
