About this book

In the fourth volume, Takao decides to pursue the affection of one of his muses. This proves difficult, as the teenage characters have become emotionally damaged and warped, many having grown up without mothers. Takao himself has abandoned his own humanity in this pursuit. Takao now seeks a utopia that he can share only with his best friend. This imagined place exists among the rice paddies and mountains of their rural hometown, and is designed to mock and undermine the social ideals that hold the town together. Though such a society would never be accepted by others, that rejection is precisely what Takao and his friend desire.
