About this book

DC Smith is approached by Amanda Fitch, who wants her missing husband declared dead so she can claim a substantial insurance payout for her second husband. Smith is reluctant to take the case, as there is no body or proof of death. However, the insurance company—facing a significant financial loss if Amanda obtains a certificate of presumed death—hires the firm Diver and Diver Associates to investigate Gerald Fitch's disappearance, which occurred more than five years ago. Jason Diver believes Smith is the right person for the job and must convince him to accept it. Smith's position is at risk as he becomes drawn into the investigation.
