The Brotherhood of the Wheel

In 1119 A.D., nine crusaders formed the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, a militant monastic order tasked with protecting pilgrims and caravans on roads to and from the Holy Land. Though the Knights Templar eventually declined, a small offshoot survived and returned to the original mission: defending the roads of the world and those who travel them. Today, this secret order consists of truckers, bikers, taxi drivers, state troopers, bus drivers, and RV travelers—anyone who lives and works on America's highways. They are the Brotherhood of the Wheel. Jimmy Aussapile, one such knight, is driving a big rig through the South when a promise to a ghostly hitchhiker leads him to investigate a string of missing children across the country. His search brings him together with Lovina Hewitt, a Louisiana State Police investigator working the same case. Their investigation takes them to a forgotten town not on any map and reveals the truth behind the Black-Eyed Kids said to haunt the highways.
