About this book

Pell is an engineer and digger who unearths and repairs artifacts left by the mysterious Ancients on the sunbaked planet of Tampere. She works to help her village survive and understand the secrets of the past. Heartwood and Moseus are keepers of a tower near the village of Emgarden that contains complex machines unlike any Pell has encountered. Recognizing her skill with Ancient technology, they believe she is their only hope of restoring these machines to working order. Heartwood himself is an enigma—distant yet protective—and Pell finds herself drawn to him. As Pell works to restore the tower's broken machinery, she experiences disturbing visions. Her connection to the machine begins to reveal the origins of the tower's keepers and exposes a truth that has been deliberately hidden from her.
