About this book

Ronin, a Bladesman of the Freehold, flees his subterranean city after its rulers turn against him. The Freehold was built centuries ago to shelter civilization from an ecological catastrophe that covered the world in ice. Ronin escapes to Earth's frozen surface, a place he never believed could sustain life. Accompanied by Borros, a Magic Man, Ronin travels across the ice shelf toward the frozen sea. They discover Sha'angh'sei, an exotic port city where Ronin encounters the beautiful Kiri and finds unexpected comfort. However, safety remains elusive. Mythic creatures called Makkon pose a serious threat to the region. Ronin and Kiri must work together to confront and defeat this dangerous adversary.
