Saltcrop: A Novel

In Earth's near future, rising seas have submerged coastal cities and highways, while mutant fish inhabit pirate-controlled ocean depths. Skipper, the youngest of three sisters and a skilled sailor, survives by collecting and reselling plastic from the ocean to support her ailing grandmother. When her eldest sister Nora—who left home a decade ago seeking a cure for worldwide crop failures—goes missing, Skipper and her middle sister Carmen receive a cryptic distress signal. Setting aside their differences, they embark across the sea to find and rescue Nora. During their voyage through a transformed world, they encounter other travelers and uncover details about Nora's work and the corporations interested in her discoveries. As their journey progresses, questions mount: What dangerous forces has Nora drawn attention from, and how well do the sisters actually know each other? The novel follows their epic voyage across oceans and continents while exploring themes of sisterhood, friendship, and ecological collapse.
