Former Super Bowl MVP quarterback Zach Bridger receives a life-altering call about his ex-wife, Rebecca Pratt, who has been placed on life support after a violent assault. Despite their divorce, Zach holds her medical power-of-attorney and faces an impossible choice about her care. Under public pressure, he ultimately allows Rebecca's parents to make the final decision. Four years later, Rebecca's attacker, Eban—a member of a wealthy Atlanta family—is released from prison early. State prosecutor Kate Lennon, determined to see justice served, realizes that if Rebecca's condition changes, Eban could be retried on a murder charge. This would require Zach to take a drastic action he initially rejects. Despite their conflicting positions, Zach and Kate develop an attraction to each other. Eban, aware of the danger he faces, begins plotting to eliminate both Zach and Kate before Rebecca's death can lead to his conviction and loss of freedom. The situation escalates into a fight for survival.
