About this book

Set in 1894, Outlawed follows 17-year-old Ada, who flees her town on her wedding day after a year of marriage without pregnancy. In her community, barren women are hanged as witches, making her survival dependent on escape. Ada joins the Hole in the Wall Gang, a notorious band of outlaws led by the Kid, a former preacher turned robber. The Kid is determined to establish a safe haven for outcast women. To realize this vision, the gang develops a dangerous plan that puts all their lives at risk. Ada must decide whether she will risk her life for the possibility of a transformed future. The novel explores themes of survival, community, and reimagining the mythology of the American West through the experiences of its female characters.
