My Struggle: Book 2: A Man in Love

The second installment of Karl Ove Knausgaard's six-volume work follows the character Karl Ove Knausgaard as he moves to Stockholm after leaving his wife. Living alone, he develops a close friendship with Geir, another Norwegian exile and intellectual interested in boxing and Nietzsche. He also reconnects with Linda, whom he met at a writers' workshop years earlier. At its core, the book is a love story about Karl Ove falling in love with his second wife. Beyond this central narrative, it explores becoming a father, family life's challenges, failed family vacations, the stress of children's birthday parties, and the daily rhythms of city life that both distract from and occupy his writing. The book was a finalist for The Independent Foreign Fiction Prize and named a Wall Street Journal Best Book of the Year.
