Mathaiik has trained his entire life to join the Idallik Knights, an order dedicated to protecting their world from necromancy. History records that centuries ago, necromancy nearly destroyed the world, though the threat now appears minimal—only scattered remnants of the magic remain, nothing like the legendary Grim Lords, the undead wizards of old. When a new kind of monster begins to emerge, the Knights find themselves unable to stop it. Forests come alive and consume anyone who enters them, as if the land itself has turned against humanity. Desperate, Mathaiik makes an extraordinary decision: he awakens a Grim Lord sleeping beneath the Knights' fortress. The necromancer he releases, Kaiataris, possesses knowledge history has lost. She understands that this wild magic is part of a repeating cycle—life after death, chaos after order. Without finding a new way to balance these forces, the consequences will extend beyond the end of their world to the end of all life everywhere.
