Founding the Colony: Murna Colony book 2

Founding the Colony is the second volume in a revised and expanded edition of the original Colonization Chronicle. The story follows Ricky and his family as they arrive at Murna after surviving severe ship system failures and two pirate attacks. As one of the first colonists to land, Ricky establishes a farmstead with his girlfriend Edin and uses technology he developed to communicate directly with his grandmother on Earth, though he suspects the ansible network may be compromised. While building his own farmstead, Ricky assists his family members with theirs and pilots multiple shuttle runs to transport the colony's cargo and supplies to the surface settlement. Early in the unloading process, he learns he has been granted complete ownership of one of Murna's moons and a significant percentage of its three asteroid belts. He begins planning how to develop these assets while also purchasing large land tracts expected to become valuable on the new colony. Ricky's grandmother informs him that a follow-on colony transport carrying over sixty thousand new colonists has launched ahead of schedule with a different composition than originally planned. This book contains political and social commentary and depictions of severely abused slaves.
