About this book

The first book in a coming-of-age trilogy set on a generation ship traveling toward a new world. Five hundred years ago, the ship's machines stopped functioning, and life has since become austere, with each community member expected to contribute. At age 65, individuals are recycled to conserve resources for those still able to work. Hazel lives in one of these villages, accepting the established order until she encounters the Cheaters, a group who reject the recycling system. They have uncovered a fundamental deception underlying life on the ship and are determined to expose the truth and fight for everyone's survival. Hazel must decide where her allegiances lie as the ship's delicate social structure begins to unravel.
